MISHAWAKA - Eugene “Gene” T. Piechocki, 93, of Tanglewood Trace passed away early Friday morning, March 18, 2016 in Mishawaka.

Gene was born on December 5, 1922 in South Bend as the son of the late Joseph and Harriet (Ewald) Piechocki. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Richard and Ted Piechocki.

Shortly after World War II, on August 18, 1945 in South Bend, Gene married the love of his life the late Irene K. Major. They were married for 53 beautiful years. Gene is survived by two sons, Charles (Mary Ann) Piechocki of South Bend and Michael (Debra) Piechocki of Carmel, IN; four grandchildren, Robert (Patty) Piechocki of South Bend, Rebecca (Erik) Lundry of Granger, Matthew (Ellen) Piechocki of Highland, MI and Alison (Brad) Phillips of Carmel, IN; eight great grandchildren, Andrew Piechocki, Christian Piechocki, Bryce Lundry, Benjamin Piechocki, Samuel Piechocki, Aubree Lundry, Jackson and Emerson Phillips. Gene is also survived by a sister, Virginia Molenda and brother, Ernest (Gloria) Piechocki.

Gene graduated from Washington High School and retired from ITEK Business Products. Gene was a caring and loving person, always willing to help others. He was also a diehard NASCAR fan. He was member of St. Bavo Catholic Church in Mishawaka. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving his country during WWII. Gene was a lifetime area resident, residing in both Mishawaka and South Bend.

Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. with a Rosary at 2:15 p.m. on Sunday, March 20 in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 21 in St. Bavo Catholic Church, Mishawaka with Rev. Vincent Joseph officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Polish Roman Catholic Cemetery in South Bend where he will be laid to rest next to his wife, Irene.
