SOUTH BEND - Eugene “Gene” Gorbacz, 79 years old, passed away on Thursday morning, April 7, 2016, at Wellbrooke. Gene was born in South Bend on August 7, 1936, to Samuel and Julia (Prusky) Gorbacz, who immigrated from Russia.

He was a 1954 graduate of Washington High School and joined the U.S. Army after graduation. He was an infantry soldier serving some of that time in Korea. He was a hard worker and so enjoyed all of the many friends he made there. He was a man of excellent work ethics, and always had a ready smile and kind words for all.

In 1960, he married the love of his life, Judith Ann “Judy” Walker. She survives. To their union, they were blessed with one son, Brady Eugene (Stephanie) of Marion, Illinois, and one daughter, Lori Ann Gorbacz of New Carlisle, Indiana.

He is also survived by a sister, Ann (William) Booker; nephew, Robert E. Yates of Florida; and niece, Julie Rathbun of Alabama.

He was preceded in death by twin brother, Robert, brother, Samuel, and brother, Walter.

Gene was a generous and loving husband, father and friend to many. He loved his family dearly and he leaves them with many wonderful, happy memories to cherish and was well loved by them.
