Edward L Mejer

Edward L. Mejer. 82, died Friday at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida, after a short illness.

Survivors include his daughter, Diane; and son in law, Jerry Cook of Miami; as well as sisters-in-law, Adeline Macalka of LaPorte and Pauline Koehler of South Bend; and brother-in-law, Eugene Karcewski of South Bend; and many nieces and nephews in the South Bend area. He was married to Alice Bilinski who predeceased him. A lifelong resident of South Bend, he moved to live with his daughter and son-in-law in Miami in 1999.

He continued to serve the Miami community as a poll worker in his local precinct, a tradition that he established many years ago in South Bend. A graduate of Washington High School, he attended Purdue University, where he was president of his freshman class. He enjoyed cooking and gardening during his retirement in Florida.

A memorial service will be held in the spring in South Bend
