John Edward Trytko Jr.

SOUTH BEND - John Trytko, 96, passed away July 13, 2016 in Memorial Hospital. John was born May 11, 1920 in South Bend, to the late John and Stefania (Pyclik) Trytko. John was also preceded in death by brother, Bert Trytko and sisters, Dorothy Guzowski and Irene Mielcarek.

On October 23, 1948, John married his loving wife of 68 years, Lillian (Rymarz) Trytko; she survives along with children, John S. (Ruth C.) Trytko, and David E. (Wendy Sue) Trytko; grandchildren, John B. and Anne C. Trytko, son and daughter of John and Ruth; and Tyler J. and Alex J. Trytko, sons of David and Wendy.

John was a Navy Veteran serving from 1944-1946.

John retired from Raco, where he was the President and CEO, a Division of Hubbell. He received the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) “Man of the Year” award in 1979.

John was appointed by Mayor Parent to the Board of Directors of the City of South Bend Mishawaka Business Development Corporation (1982-1992) and was presented the Key to the City of South Bend in 1985. He was the Vice President of South Bend - Mishawaka Chamber of Commerce Industrial Council, recipient of the Community Leadership in Education Award from the Indiana Vocational Technical College- Northcentral (IVY TECH) in 1983. John was a member of Project Future of South Bend and a member of the Board of Directors Goodwill Industries.

John was a parishioner of St. Mary's Polish National Catholic Church where he was a Board Member, Vice Chairman, and Chairman. He also was a choir member since 1946.

Visitation for John is 10:00 am to 11:00 am, Monday, July 18, 2016 in St. Mary's Polish National Catholic Church, with a Mass to begin 11:00am. Monday, July 18, 2016. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Mary's Polish National Catholic Church.
