Mary E. “Sue” Henye Mariel

Mary E. "Sue" Mariel, 76, of Carlisle Street, passed away at 9:10 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, in Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Mariel was born on Nov. 25, 1925, in South Bend, Ind., to George and Mary Henye.

On Aug. 28, 1948, as Mary Henye, she married John V. Mariel, who survives. She is also survived by two sons, James (Vicki) Mariel of Goshen, Ind., and Gary (Cindy) Mariel of Mishawaka, Ind.; two grandsons, Eric and Shawn; and by a sister, Elsie Butler of Topeka, Kan. Mary was preceded in death by a sister, Lillian Henye.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Avenue. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 Monday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Hospice of St. Joseph County.
