SOUTH BEND Jerome Harry J Liwosz, 73, of Wilber Street, South Bend, Ind., died at 3:25 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6, in his residence. Mr. Liwosz retired from the Bendix Corporation in 1986 after 44 years of employment.

He was born on Nov. 27, 1923, in South Bend, and was a lifelong resident. On Sept. 6, 1948, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in South Bend, he married the former Theresa Ann Bartkowiak, who survives. He is also survived by a daughter, Linda M. (William) Rasmussen of Birch Lake, Mich.; a granddaughter, Phyllis Catherine Rasmussen of Birch Laka, and by a sister. Florence Jozwiak of South Bend

Mr Liwosz was preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Stella (Witucki) Liwosz, a daughter, Shirley Ann Liwosz in 1966, a brother, Robert J Liwosz, and by a sister, Carrie Lisk

Mr Liwosz was a member of Holy Cross Parish, Holy Cross Harvest House, M R Falcons Nest 4, was a Legion of Honor member of M R Falcons, Z B Falcons Nest 80, and was a member of Polish National Alliance 83 Club

He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

A funeral Mass will be held at 1 1 am on Friday in Holy Cross Catholic Church, with Rev Richard Conyers, CSC, officiating Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery Friends may call from 2 to 8 p m today in Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N Bendix Drive, South Bend A parish Rosary will be recited at 3 p m today in the funeral home A Legion of Honor ceremony will follow immediately after the Rosary Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St Joseph County, Inc , 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637-3437, or to Holy Cross Parish, 1520 Vassar Avenue, South Bend, IN 46628
