Mike Kosanovich - Class Of 1942 VIEW PROFILE

Michael Kosanovich

Mike Kosanovich , 79, of Southernview Drive, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 12 a.m. Friday, Nov. 5, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center. Mike was born in South Bend on Dec. 2, 1924, to Matilda and George Kosanovich , and resided in the area all of his life. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the 78th Infantry during the liberation of France. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Oak Leaf Cluster and the Bronze Service Star.

Mr. Kosanovich was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Serbian Orthodox Church. He was a retired business owner and worked for Bulk Transport Company for 22 years and was a retired member of the Teamsters Union. He also served as a board member of the Sacred Heart Cemetery Association and was a member of the American Legion.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, and by his daughter, Linda Sue Kosanovich .

On Aug. 4, 1990, he married Jean E. Rashevich, who survives. Also surviving are his son, Jim Michael (Vanessa) Kosanovich of South Bend; three daughters, Sharron Lee (Vincent) Kertes of Osceola, Ind., Patricia Louise (Geoffrey) Wharton of Mount Prospect, Ill., and Pamela Jean Kosanovich of Chicago, Ill.; a stepson, Stephen Andrew (Sarah) Rashevich of Fort Wayne, Ind.; two stepdaughters, Anne Elizabeth (Kevin) Marslender of Fishers, Ind., and Suzanne Elaine (Joseph) Rupchock of Mishawaka, Ind.; a brother, Robert Kosanovich of Mishawaka; two sisters, Mary Nikolich and Anne Kubiak, both of Chicago; 15 grandchildren, Brent (Stephanie), Blaine, Ryan, Kyle, Holly, Michael, Thomas, Geoffrey, Griffin, Alexander, Andrew, Kate, Stephen, Kathryn and Michael; two great-grandchildren, Hanna and Joseph; a niece Paula; and his beloved dog, Annabelle.

Funeral services will be conducted at noon Monday, Nov. 8, in Sts. Peter & Paul Serbian Orthodox Church. Burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Ave., and one hour prior to services in the church. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. today in the funeral home.
