Bernice C. (Dlugosz) Pawelski

July 9, 1924 – July 1, 2004 Bernice C.Pawelski, 79, of North Lombardy Street, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 9:40 p.m.Thursday, July 1, in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center. She was born on July 9, 1924, in South Bend, to George and Caroline (Ekiert) Dlugosz, who preceded her in death.

On Jan.25, 1947, in South Bend, Bernice married Harry L.Pawelski, who passed away on Oct.9, 1993. Sisters and brothers, Alex, John, Zachary, Violet and Cecelia, are all deceased.

Bernice is survived by two daughters, Carol (Lou) Grounds of South Bend and Julie (Bob) Orszulak of Mishawaka, Ind.;one son, Harry (Linda) Pawelski of South Bend;10 grandchildren, Lou, Michelle, Lisa, Eric, Erica, Brandon, Brian, Jennica, Elliott and Matthew; 16 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren;and by two sisters, Harriet Black of South Bend and Helen Karpinski of Buchanan, Mich.

She retired in 1989 from the First Bank and Trust Company.Bernice was a member of Holy Family Church.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 6, from 2 to 8 p.m.in the ST.JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S.Mayflower Road, where a Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m.Funeral services will be on Wednesday, July 7, at 1 p.m.in Holy Family Church.Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend.
