Robert George Borkowski - Class Of 1942 VIEW PROFILE

Robert G. Borkowski

The death of Robert G. Borkowski, 47, of 53505 Lamar St. about 2 p.m. Friday, June 22, 1973, has been ruled a suicide by St. Joseph County Deputy Coroner Dr. F.Dale Nelson. Borkowski's body was found in his car in Highland Cemetery parked next to the grave of his wife, who died in 1970. According to Dr Nelson, death resulted from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in the head.

Borkowski was the president of the Borkowski Advertising Agency at 211 W. Monroe St. which was damaged by fire a week ago. He was born Sept. 24, 1925, in South Bend, and had lived here all his life. On Nov 24, 1951, in Omaha. Neb., he married Betty Glad, who died in 1970.

Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Borkowski of South Bend; two sons, Edward and John , and two daughters, Kathryn and Anne Marie, all at home; and a sister, Mrs, Hanford (Phyllis) Eckman of Dallas, Pa.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, of which he was a member, with Rev. Birt Harris, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.

Mr. Borkowski was a member of the South Bend Power Squadron.
