Emery Michael Wegh - Class Of 1941 VIEW PROFILE

Emery M. Wegh

Emery M. Wegh of Terryville, Connecticut, age 91, died peacefully at his home on Tuesday March 3, 2015. Emery was born June 12, 1923 in South Bend, IN, the son of the late John & Barbara (Herzog) Wegh. As a lieutenant in the U.S. Army Signal Corp he participated in the attack to free Cebu Island in the Philippines from the Japanese during WWII.

An Electrical Engineering graduate of Purdue University, he designed the first electrical electronic keyed watchman security system for the United Nations building in NYC while working for the Edwards Alarm Co. of Norwalk, CT. He held several U.S. patents associated with the design of molded case circuit breakers for General Electric, that helped make the circuit breaker panel the modern replacement for the home fuse box. Emery was a former part owner and president of Bicron Electronics Co. of Canaan, CT. He was a former owner and president of BOMAG, Inc. of Terryville. He was a very active member and past president of Sts. Cyril & Methodius Orthodox Church of Terryville.

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Vera (Gabor) Wegh of Terryville, a brother John R. Wegh and his wife Josephine of South Bend, IN, and a sister Mary Casper of Florida. He was predeceased by a sister Irene Derda of South Bend, IN. He is survived by son George Wegh and his wife Jennifer of Terryville; a daughter Laura and her husband Richard Koski of Terryville; a son Philip Wegh and his wife Nadia of St. Petersburg, Russia; a son Jason Wegh and his wife Sharon of Barrington, IL; and a son Gregory Wegh, and his wife Deborah of Farmington. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 10:00AM on Saturday March 7, 2015 at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Orthodox Church, Terryville. Burial in Sts. Cyril & Methodius Cemetery will take place in the spring.

Relatives and friends may call at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Orthodox Church, corner of Ames & Fairview Ave. in Terryville, Friday evening March from 6:00 to 8:00PM. A memorial service will be held Friday evening at 7:00PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Sts. Cyril & Methodius Memorial Fund, or the Sts. Cyril & Methodius Fr.
