Irene H. (Trytko) Mielcarek

SOUTH BEND - Irene H. Mielcarek, 93, passed away in her residence on Sunday, April 26, 2015. Irene was born February 13, 1922 in South Bend to the late John and Stefania (Pyclik) Trytko. On May 22, 1948 in South Bend Irene married the Love of her Life, Sylvester Mielcarek who preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by siblings Dorothy Guzowski and Bert Trytko.

Survivors of Irene include her children David (Cheryl) Mielcarek and Nancy (Gregory) Miller; grandchildren, Joshua, Cassandra, and Jacob Mielcarek, Melissa (Joshua) Winter and Kelly Miller; great- granddaughters, Norah & Noelle Mielcarek; and brother John (Lillian) Trytko.

Irene graduated from Washington High School and worked for Studebaker, SB School Corp. and retired from Sears. She was a parishioner of St. Mary's Polish National Catholic Church and a member of the American Legion Post 357. She enjoyed shopping, dining out, and watching old classic movies, but most important and meaningful to Irene was spending time with her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother; she will be greatly missed by all.

Visitation for Irene will be 4:00pm to 8:00pm with a Rosary at 4:00pm Wednesday, April 29, 2015 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. A Funeral Procession will begin at the Funeral Home at 9:30am and a Mass will be celebrated 10:00am Thursday, April 30, 2015 in St. Mary's Polish National Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Mary's Polish National Catholic Church, 1601 W. Sample St., South Bend, Indiana 46619.
