Elizabeth Louise Valentine, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt, 92, of Holy Cross Care and Rehab Rater Center, departed this life on Saturday, July 2, 2005, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend, Indiana. She was born on November 10, 1922, in Columbus, Mississippi. to the union of Grant and Magnolia (Billups) Randolph Sr. She was the eldest of three siblings and last surviving member of the Randolph and Billups family.

She was the matriarch and 'the Boss:' She moved to South Bend from Columbus with her parents and siblings In 1934. She attended South Bend schools, having graduated from Washington High School.

She was united In matrimony to Elijah 'Charles' Valentine on December 27, 1947. To the union three children were born. She worked for the former Enro Shirt Factory, Goldblatts Department Store, and retired from the South Bend Police Department as a crossing guard officer after 12 years of service. She then worked for McKinley School as a dietary aide. She was a dedicated member of Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church for over 60 years, where she was affiliated with the matrons society. She was also a member of the Eastern Star and the Household of Ruth 5577.

Loving and cherishing her memory forever are one daughter, Pamela A. Valentine Wilson of South Bend; one stepdaughter, Faye D. (Jesse) Smith of Inglewood, California; one son, Ronald E. (Michele) Valentine Sr. of South Bend; one stepson, Melvin C. (Dorothy) Valentine Sr. of La Marque, Texas; two grandchildren, Ronald E. (Armee) Valentine Jr. and Sakeia L. Wilson; two nieces, Sharon L. Easton (whom she raised), all of South Bend, and Patricia A. Duncan; one nephew, Robert B. Randolph Jr., both of Augusta, Georgia; one goddaughter, Tameka A. Griffin of Indianapolis, Indiana; and five great-grandchildren.

Her parents, Grant and Magnolia Randolph Sr., her husband, E. Charles Valentine, one son, Paul Valentine, brothers, Grant Jr. and Randolph Sr., and one great-granddaughter, Char-Leigh Angel Wilson, preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, July 1 1 , 2005, in Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, with visitation one hour prior to services in the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Alford's Mortuary where bereavement messages may be sent to alfordsmortu-arvcomcast.net.
