Sophia (Konstanty) Szerencse

SOUTH BEND — Sophia Szerencse, 71, of Rosemary Lane died at 11:40 p.m. Thursday in St. Joseph's Medical Center. Mrs. Szerencse was born Sept. 28, 1922, in South Bend and was a lifelong area resident.

On Aug. 21, 1948, in South Bend, as Sophia Konstanty. she married Robert E. Szerencse. He survives with three sons, Dr. Robert Jr. of Granger, and John B. and David A., both of South Bend; one grandson; and a sister, Verna Coffman of South Bend.

She was a member of Ladies Civic Club and Altar and Rosary Society, both of SL Casimir's Catholic Church, Club 53. and was a former precinct committeewoman. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Casimir's Catholic Church. Entombment will be in Resurrection Gardens Mausoleum of St Joseph Cemeteiy. Friends may call from 6 to 9 pm today and 2 to 9 pm Sunday in St Joseph Funeral Home, where a parish rosaiy will be said at 7:30 pm Sunday.
