July 28, 1920 – April 30, 2003

Casimer Kiemnec, 82, of South Bend, Ind., passed away at 12:15 p.m.on Wednesday, April 30, in Hospice House. He was born on July 28, 1920, in South Bend, to Leo and Hattie (Nalazak) Kiemnec, who preceded him in death.He was also preceded in death by a sister, Adeline DeFreeuw.

On Sept.14, 1946, he married Ethel Clara Szabo, who survives. He is also survived by his daughter, Karen (Jerry Levin) Kiemnec of Toledo, Ohio;a son, Randal (Mary Irvin-Kiemnec) Kiemnec of Colorado Springs, Colo.;two granddaughters, Stephanie and Natasha;two sisters, Clementine Blasko of South Bend and Virginia Martin of Walkerton, Ind.;a brother, Leo Kiemnec Jr.of Granger, Ind.;and by several nieces and nephews.

Casimer had served in the U.S. Army.While in the Army he received the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with four bronze stars, and the American Defense Service Medal. Casimer belonged to Holy Family Church, The American Legion 357, PNA.He volunteered at the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center for 16 years, Meals on Wheels for 15 years, and helped at bingo at Holy Family Church.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.today, May 2, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S.Mayflower Road.The Rosary will be prayed at 3:30 p.m.Funeral services will be at 10 a.m.on Saturday, May 3, in Holy Family Church.Entombment will take place at Riverview Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St.Joseph County, 111 Sunnybrook Court, to the Cancer Society of St.Joseph County, or to the Holy Family Building Fund..
