Dr. Ernest J. Hecklinski
SOUTH BEND Services for Dr. Ernest Joseph Hecklinski, 67, of 1424 N. Iowa St., who died about 1:10 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Hospital, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Kaniewsld & Sons Funeral Home, where Knights of Columbus Santa Maria Council 553 and the parish will say the rosary at 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.

Dr. Hecklinski was a dentist in practice with his brother at the Marycrest Building. He was born Dec. 20, 1922, in South Bend and was a lifelong area resident.

On May 29, 1946, in South Bend, be married Madeline Schaut, who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Diane Satenstein of Chappaqua, N.Y, Jane Dandino of South Bend and Anne Hendrick of Charleston, S.C.; a son, Thomas of Atlanta; four grandchildren; and a brother. Dr. Joseph E. Hecklinski of South Bend.

He retired in 1982 from the Naval Reserve after 20 years of service as a lieutenant command and was a member of National Reserve Officers Association, Indiana and American Dental Associations, North Central Dental Society, Knights of Columbus Santa Maria Council 553, American Legion Pulaski Post 357, and the church ushers club. He was a veteran of World War II. He graduated from Saint Louis School of Dentistry
