WALKERTON Private memorial services will be on Monday, Nov. 20, for Rene M. VanParys, 65, of 500 Roosevelt Road, Walkerton, Ind., who died after an illness at 12:56 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 17, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend, Ind. 1 Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of donors choice..

Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel, is in charge of arrangements. Mr. VanParys was born on July 21, 1935, in Mishawaka, Ind., to Maurice and Mary DePaepe VanParys, and had lived in Walkerton for four years, coming from Koontz Lake. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by three brothers, Joseph, Jerome and Edmund.

On May 25, 1963, in Niles, Mich., he was married to Crystal Allen, who survives. He is also survived by two sons, Greg (Janice) Graddy of Eagan, Minn., and Mark VanParys (Beth DePoy, fiancee); two grandsons, First Lieutenant Bryan (Jesse) Graddy and Justin Graddy; and by several nieces and nephews.

Mr. VanParys was employed by Norman Perry Trophies, South Bend, was a former member of the Polish National Alliance of South Bend, attended St. Patricks Church of Walkerton, was a U.S. Army veteran, and was a 1953 graduate of Washington High School, South Bend.
