Terry Steven Smith

Terry Steven Smith, age 70, of St. Louis, MO, passed away on October 21, 2023. Terry was a loveable character, full of life, and the Spirit of God. He loved his family and was a mentor and friend to many. Terry continued to lead bible studies, minister, and care for his family until his final days. He will be greatly missed.

Terry is survived by his wife of over 38 years, Jeanette A. Smith, their son, DeWarren Steven Smith (Melissa L.), Aunt Dr. Betty Smith Williams of Los Angeles, CA, his sister Eileen Davidson of South Bend, IN, his brother James Causey of Mishawaka, Indiana, four grandchildren, Nicholas Bailey of Granger, IN, Camille E. Smith, Mitchell C. Smith, Elle J. Smith of St. Louis, MO, along with nieces Sajata Peck (Brian), Renee L. LaSane, and Carmen Smith, nephews Howard Davidson, and Marcus LaSane, along with cousins, and friends from "The Lake" to St. Louis and beyond. He was preceded in death by his parents DeWarren A. Smith Sr. and Lucille Smith, his sons Aaron Jahan Bailey and Travis J. Smith, sister Nellie K. Jennings, brother DeWarren A. Smith Jr, and nephew James Causey Jr.

Terry attended Benjamin Harrison Elementary and Washington High School. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1972 to 1973. In 1989, Terry answered the call to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and graduated from the Moody Bible Institute. He pastored missions, sang, preached, and taught Bible Study in South Bend and Gary, IN, while also working to support his family.

In 1996, Terry became the Pastor of Parrish Temple CME Church in St. Louis, MO, where he taught and preached the Gospel for three years. He later established Wings of Faith, Hope, and Love and worked as an Office Manager and Insurance Broker for Acceptance Insurance.

Terry loved to minister, sing, debate, laugh, and help those he loved. He will be remembered for his beautiful spirit, love for family and friends, zeal for God's word, and belief that "Love Never Fails".

Services: Cotten Branch Mortuary in Ferguson, MO, will be handling the arrangements and a private Memorial Service for family and friends is pending.
