ATTA MAE (BINION) ULMER

SOUTH BEND - Mrs. Atta Mae Ulmer, 62, who resided on Bendix Drive, South Bend, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2013. Atta Mae was born the youngest of eight children to George and Connie (Hollins) Binion in Greenwood, Mississippi, on February 15, 1951.

As a small child she moved with her family to South Bend, Indiana, where she attended Harrison Elementary School and graduated from Washington High School.

After graduation she married John D. Ulmer Sr., and to that union three children were born. Atta Mae was a loving wife, mother, sister and aunt. She had a beautiful smile and was affectionately known to the family as "Lucy," "Annie Mae" and" Granny Mae" by her granddaughter Teria.

Family members who left before Atta Mae were her parents, George and Connie Binion; one son, Dion Ulmer; one grandson, Dereion Ulmer; three sisters, Minnie Lee Brandy, Corrine Alford and Alberta Hawkins; one niece, Dra Binion; and one nephew, John Binion.

Those still here to cherish her memory include her husband, John D. Ulmer Sr.; one daughter, Tracy Ulmer; son, John (Racheal) Ulmer Jr., both of South Bend, IN; stepdaughter, Veronica Gilbert; grandchildren, Shyeesha, Robert, Eddy, Tatyana, Tashaway, Latavi, JaQwan, Jashuana, Tavaris and Trevian; two sisters, Elizabeth Neal of South Bend and Nettie (Billy) Belton of Indianapolis, IN; two brothers, Roosevelt (Nancy) Hollins and George (Ester) Binion, both of Cincinnati, OH; along with a host of nieces and nephews. She was an honorary Mom to Eric, Gerald, Danny, Kurstin, DeAngela, Dawana, Flora, Leona, Janiecesha and Toccara.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ulmer will be held at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at Alford's Mortuary, where arrangements have been entrusted. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services. To leave the family an online condolence, please visit our website at www.alfordsmortuaryinc.com.
