GEORGE B. "BRO-BRO" TOWNSEND
Jan. 7, 1959 - June 24, 2012 SOUTH BEND - George Bernard Townsend, 53, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2012, at 6:45 p.m., in his residence. He was born to Benjamin Sr. and Annetta Townsend on January 7, 1959, in South Bend, Indiana.
His education included Ardmore, Coquillard and Washington High School. He also attended Indiana University Bloomington, studying business management, in 1977.
He was a newlywed and married his love, Victoria Townsend, on June 21, 2012. George was employed at the South Bend Regional Airport for 13 years and Adapto for more than 5 years. His favorite sport was karate and he was often referred to as the "black Bruce Lee." He loved animals, in particular horses and dogs. George had a captivating personality and a broad smile which will truly be missed by all who knew him.
George leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife, Victoria A. Townsend; five children: Jason Townsend, Kyle Townsend, George Brandon Townsend, Ashley Townsend and Suevena Townsend; 13 grandchildren; his mother and father, Annetta L. Townsend and Benjamin Townsend Sr.; six siblings: one brother, Benjamin (Tonya) Townsend, & five sisters: Angela (Jessie) Gamble, Kim Dooley Townsend, Robin Townsend, Suevena M. Townsend Lee and Monique Townsend; and brother-in-law, David (Patti) Reifsnider. He also leaves in life, a very special great-aunt, Erma Bowles Greer; favorite uncle, Allen (Prudence) Townsend; uncle, William "Billy" (Betty) Thomas; his best friend and cousin, Ernest "Ernie" Townsend; favorite nephew, Derrick Wright; nieces, Glenda "Winnie" Howell, Zena Williams and Taylor Reifsnider.
