SOUTH BEND - Jode A. Spriggs, 44, of South Bend, passed away at 1:38 AM Friday, October 7, at Memorial Hospital after a short illness. Mr. Spriggs was born on June 24, 1967, in South Bend, and was a lifetime resident of the South Bend area. Prior to becoming ill, Jode was a Human Resource Recruiter and President of NARCAN for Hospital in the greater Chicago area. He is survived by his loving mother, Carol J. Spriggs, and his brother, Randall H. (Domestic Partner, Robert W. Clausen) Spriggs, both of South Bend; an uncle, Russell H. Barker II of Walkerton, IN; and several cousins, Lauren (Justin) Monroe of Mesa Verde, AZ, and Keagan D. Monroe of Mesa Verde, AZ, Rockne (Nicole) Barker of Walkerton, IN, Russell H. (Amber) Barker III of Freeport, IL, and Shelby Lynn Barker of Walkerton, IN, Russell H. Barker IV, Rosillyn Barker, Robert A. Barker, all of Freeport, IL.

Jode was preceded in death by his father, Jack A. Spriggs, on September 1, 2006. Mr. Spriggs' hobbies were traveling, music and singing.

Jode was a 1985 graduate of Washington High School.

Jode was a man of kindness, who loved his family dearly as they did him. He thought the world of his cousins. The family request that, instead of flowers, if you wish to make a donation, it may be sent to his mother, Carol J. Spriggs, 1001 S. Mayflower Road, Lot #136, South Bend, IN 46619. Any contributions will be used to open a Memorial Fund in his name. Visitation hours will be from 4-8 PM Tuesday, October 11th, at Hanley & Sons "Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home, located at West Ireland Road / Indiana 23, South Bend. Funeral services will be private, family only. The HANLEY & Sons "Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home handled arrangements and extends its deepest sympathy and heartfelt prayers to the Spriggs family.
