FLORENCE J. (KURPIEWSKI) ROGGEMAN

Jan. 20, 1934 - Aug. 31, 2007
GRANGER - Florence Justine Roggeman, 73, of Granger, joined the angels in heaven on Friday, August 31, with members of her loving family by her side. She was an inspiration to all who knew her. Visitation will be in Bubb Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, Sept. 4, from 3:30 to 8 p.m., with a Rosary at 4. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at Saint Pius X Catholic Church on Wednesday, Sept. 5, at 10:30 a.m., followed by a prayer service at Fairview Cemetery. The family invites everyone back to Saint Pius X Catholic Church after the service for a luncheon gathering. Florence was born on January 20, 1934, to Stanley Jacob and Mary Martha Kurpiewski in South Bend.

She was a graduate of Washington High School, class of 1952, where she later worked as a secretary to the principal. There she met the love of her life, her surviving husband, Thomas J. "Rogge" Roggeman. They were married on July 5, 1958, in St. Adalbert's Parish. Their marriage of 49 years took them on a journey from South Bend to the universities of Purdue, Arizona, Southern California and Cincinnati, and then back to their South Bend/Mishawaka roots to retire.

Florence was a very giving person. Throughout her life she was active in numerous community services. Recently, she devoted her time to The Christ Child Society of South Bend, the St. Adalbert's newsletter, St. Pius X funeral dinner helpers, The American Cancer Society, and the Medjugorje Conference. Florence also loved to garden, craft, and watch the birds that visited her while she sat in her sun porch. She was a loyal friend, maintaining close ties to her high school girlfriends, "The Maidens."

Florence is survived by her brother, Edward Kurpiewski; her sisters, Renata (Dick) Kazmierczak and Monica (Jerry) Szweda. Above all, Florence's passion was her family. She was a devoted wife and loving mother of five children, Karen Justine of Wiesbaden, Germany, Julie Ann (Mike) King of Orefield, PA, Thomas "Rock" of Greenville, NC, Pamela Mary (Andrew) Morrill of Chandler, AZ, and Timothy "Buck" (Ginny) of Monterey, CA. She was "Nana" to ten of the luckiest grandkids in the world, Brandon, Matthew and Brittany King, Zack Kemp and Claire Roggeman, and Andrew, Annie, Stephanie, Amanda and Katherine Morrill.

Contributions in memory of Florence Justine Roggeman may be made to The Christ Child Society of South Bend, IN.
