LEONARD W. CENOVA

Feb. 27, 1923 - Nov. 10, 2011
WAKARUSA - Leonard W. Cenova, 88, a man of integrity and compassion, left on November 10, 2011, to serve the Lord full time. Family members who left before him were Michael & Bertha Cenova (parents), Frank Cenova (brother), Margaret Cenova-Putz (sister), Julia Cenova-Hayes (sister), Gene Cenova (son), and Mike Cenova (grandson). He was born in South Bend on February 27, 1923.

He graduated from Harrison Elementary, Washington High School and ACME School of Design.

He became an Eagle Scout at a young age and was active in the Boy Scouts for many decades afterwards. Shortly after the attack on Pearl Harbor, he served us all by joining the United States Navy. He saw action in WW II and the Korean War on the USS Phelps (DD360) and the USS Farquhar (DE139).

He was employed by Studebaker for 15 years and was then employed by Adams Tool & Die, Hanson Engineering and Bendix (Capital Technologies/Allied Signal) as a Tool & Die Designer.

He married his wife, Shirley "Marilyn" Nunn, in 1952, and fully devoted himself to instilling his ethics and moral character into their three sons. Still in this world are his wife, Marilyn; his son, Lee, and his wife, Loveda; his daughter-in-law, Nancy (Gene's wife); his son, Greg, and his wife, Judy; 5 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

Family and friends are welcome to visit at St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower, South Bend, Indiana (corner of Mayflower & Sample). Viewing will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am today, November 14, 2011. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 am today in the funeral home. Interment of the body he left behind will be at Riverview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that people do what Leonard would desire.
