SOUTH BEND - Edward C. Magdalinski, age 96, of South Bend, passed away on October 6, 2017, at 5:10 PM at Center for Hospice in South Bend, IN. He was born September 27, 1921, to Ojciec, Jozef, and Matka, Josefa (Buszkiewicz), Magdalinski in South Bend, Indiana. Edward was a 1940 graduate of Washington High School and after graduation he enlisted in the United States Army. He served his country honorably as a Combat Infantryman with the 111th Infantry in the Pacific Theatre and also as an Army Chaplain's Assistant. Throughout all the years after his service he could always tell tales of his experiences during World War II. On August 30, 1947, Edward married Elsie DeVos. She preceded him in death on December 5, 2005. Ed's career spanned many years as a typewriter repairman. He was a member of South Bend Eagles, Aerie 435. Mr. Magdalinski was a member of St. Stephen's Catholic Church in South Bend, Indiana. For the past year Edward lived with his daughter, Linda, and husband, Bryan, at their home in Greene Township. “Eddy” is survived by his children, Linda (Bryan) Webster and Patricia Batton (Kenny Freshour), both of South Bend; two grandchildren, Shelly and Stacy; four great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Alyssa, Braeden, and Nacom. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Margaret, as well by a nephew, several nieces, and great-nephew and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers and sisters, as well as his wife, Elsie. Services are private on Wednesday, October 11, at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola, IN 46561.
