SOUTH BEND - William (Jun Vic) Thompson, Jr., of South Bend, peacefully entered into eternal rest, surrounded by several of his loving family, on Tuesday, August 2, 2016, 4:30am at University Hospital, Indianapolis after a brief illness. He was born June 23, 1958 to the late Reba Phillips and William Thompson, Sr., who survives in Elkhart, IN.

William was a loving brother, uncle and friend to many, survived by his companion Marybeth Maxwell. He also leaves to cherish his memories eight sisters, Cheryl “Sherry” Phillips, Jackie (Anthony) Phillips-Williams, of Indianapolis, Kim (Kenny) Johnson, Patricia (Michael) Henderson and Sandra Johnson, all of South Bend, Nancy Anderson of Indianapolis, Bettina Harris of Memphis, TN and Dianne Thompson of Chicago, IL; and six brothers, Michael (Phyllis) Phillips, Sr., Kenneth Thompson, of Lafayette, IN, Brian, and Jerome Phillips, Wiley (Keiaonna) Phillips, Jr. and Michael Johnson, all of South Bend; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

In addition to his mother, Reba Phillips, he was also preceded in death by two sisters, Regina Clark and Thomasena Jones; two brothers, Larry and James Phillips; maternal grandparents, Kenny & Lula Mae Taylor; and paternal grandparents, Doak & Jessie Thompson.

William was a 1978 graduate of Washington High School. Discharged with honors in September 1980, with the United States Army, stationed at USAR Control Group (Reinforcement) RCPC, St. Louis, MO and received Decorations, Medals, Badges, Citations and Ribbons received: Sharpshooter (Rifle) Expert (Grenade).

William who was a self-employed handyman of home repair, was known to many as Jun Vic.

Funeral services for William will be held at 11:00 am Friday, August 5, 2016 in the Palmer Funeral Home - West Chapel, 2702 Lincolnway West, South Bend. His Uncle Minister, Carlis Phillips will officiate. Burial will take place at 10:30 am Monday, August 8, 2016 in Ft. Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 - 11:00 am Friday in the funeral home prior to services.
