Richard "Dick" Dering

Richard "Dick" George Dering, 84, of Osceola, entered into eternal rest on January 30, 2022. He was born on May 30, 1937 to the late Alice Howell and George Dering in South Bend, IN. He retired from the USPS after 33 years of service. Richard played fast pitch softball for many years. He coached Little League and was a "B" team coach at Washington High School. Richard loved to cook for his family and friends, he was a lifelong Yankee and Notre Dame fan, and his dogs meant the world to him. He enjoyed being around his grandchildren and was always looking for ways to give back to those around him. Richard loved fishing and enjoyed traveling around to different baseball stadiums. He was a baseball fanatic! Go Yankees!

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Shirley Seifert; brother-in-law, Howard Seifert; and niece, Lisa Seifert.

Richard is survived by his wife, Patricia (Violette) Dering; daughters, Sherrie (Sandy) Wilson and Kelli Porter; sons, Kurt (Elizabeth) Dering, Eric (Rebecca) Campbell, and Michael Campbell; grandchildren, Nicole (Eli) Weinmann, Cassandra (Alex) Wilson, Mitchell Wilson, Bridgette (Pryce) Dering, Mallory Dering, Kayla Campbell, Crystal Porter, Cheyanne Porter, Mehgen Campbell, Mason Campbell, Mattie Campbell, and Emerson Campbell; 6 great-grandchildren; niece, Diane (Marty) Eby; nephew, Erich (Pam) Seifert; and beloved dog, Joe.

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2022 from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM followed by a Memorial Service at 1:00 PM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home,10776 McKinley Hwy., Osceola, IN 46561. A Celebration of Life will be planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the St. Joseph County Humane Society.

Face masks are required to enter the funeral home.

Services have been entrusted to Chapel Hill Funeral Home.
