David Lee Stearns
January 17, 1952 - December 6, 2021

South Bend - David L. Stearns, 69, passed away on Monday at Memorial Hospital.
David was born January 17, 1952 in Fort Wayne to Herbert and Margaret Joan (O’Connor) Stearns. Left to cherish his memory are his parents, along with his wife, Shelaigh (Giles) Stearns; his children, Paul (Michelle) Stearns, Amie (Jason) Spellman, Christopher (Elissa) Stearns, and Matthew (Katelin) Stearns; grandchildren, Kaylin, Christopher, Elene, Hannah, Alexa, Sarah, and Guinevere Stearns; brother, Michael Stearns and a sister, Patricia (Gregory) Gilmore. David was preceded in death by his sister, Kathy Stearns.
David graduated from Washington High School class of 1970. He proudly served his country in the United States Army Reserves for over 25 years. David retired from NIPSCO after 45 years of employment. He was a passionate scuba diver, achieving the level of Master Diver. “Danger Dave” was truly an adventure seeker, “Diamond Dave” traveled the United States extensively as well as internationally. He was an avid Harley Davidson rider, and also enjoyed fishing and playing cards with his wife and friends. He was strong in his faith and loved the Lord deeply. Most of all, David loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. They brought him the most joy.
Visitation will be from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm, with a Funeral Ceremony beginning at 3:00 pm on Saturday, December 11, 2021
