SOUTH BEND - L.C. Agnew, 67, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, August 18, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. in Unity Hospital, Mishawaka, Indiana. He was born to the union of Ray and Helen Agnew in Osceola, Arkansas, on May 29, 1945. The family relocated to South Bend, Indiana in 1953.

He attended Harrison Elementary and Junior High School. L.C. graduated from Washington High School in 1965, where he was an avid football player. His favorite pastime was entertaining family and friends while listening to Old School music. He also enjoyed riding around town in his blue pickup truck with his dog, "Roxie," by his side. Roxie preceded him in death after a 17-year friendship. Shortly after graduating from high school, L.C. gained employment at Dodge Manufacturing in Mishawaka where he worked for 40 years. He retired from Dodge RMG in 2006. L.C. served actively in the Armed Forces from 1967 to 1969. He received an Honorable Discharge.

Left behind to cherish his memories is his loving wife, Shirley, who cared for him throughout his illness. Also surviving are his 5 sons, Terrence (Darnell), Demitrus, Robert (Sandra), Ronald and Donald; 6 daughters, Carmela (Delcarlos Sr.), Sherrill, Jill, Shanta, Tamara and Paris; along with his loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Other family members who survive are 6 sisters, Estella (Howard) McFadden Martin, Bonnie (Jessie) Gathright, Betty (Charles) Campbell, Sandra Agnew, all of South Bend, Dr. Rosmary (John) Agnew-Meracle of Santa Ana, California, and Ethel Harris of Marietta, Georgia; 6 brothers, Willie, Robert and Melvin Agnew of South Bend, Indiana, Joe Nathan and Anthony (Renee) Agnew, both of Phoenix, Arizona, and Roy (Debbie) Agnew of Bloomington, Indiana; an uncle, Charlie Agnew Jr. of Tupelo, Mississippi; an aunt, Emma (Rev. Willie D.) Standifer of Gary, Indiana; along with a special sister-in-law, Emma Carter of South Bend, Indiana; and numerous cousins and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Ray and Helen Agnew; and a daughter, Crystal.

Funeral services for L.C. Agnew will be held on Friday, August 24, 2012, in the Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home Inc., 2702 Lincoln Way West, South Bend.
