Joseph D. White

November 24, 1975 ~ December 28, 2021 (age 46)

Our beloved Joseph D. White was born on November 24, 1975, in South Bend, Indiana to his parents, Cynthia McKnight and Joseph White. 

He graduated from Washington High School in 1993. He worked for several restaurants throughout his life, but anyone that knew “JD” or “Joker,” as we affectionately called him, knew that his passion was hair. He made many lifelong and priceless friendships through his love of hair, makeup, and fashion. 

JD loved God. He grew up in the church, starting his relationship with the Lord under the guidance of Elder Ivan C. Bobo at St. Paul Mission COGIC. He found his church home at St. Luke Memorial and became closer to God with the help of Pastor and First Lady, Fred and Marcella Preston. JD knew and loved the Lord. For this, we are eternally grateful.

JD fought bravely against various medical issues over the past eighteen years, but the last two months were just too much for him to bear. On December 28, 2021, God decided that Joseph had endured enough, and called him home.

JD was preceded in death by his father, Joseph White Jr.; his grandparents: Joseph and Virginia White, Freddie and Annie McKnight Whitted, and Joseph and Vivian Jones Gray; his uncle, George White; his aunts: Annette Jenkins, Sarita Bonner, and Marcia Jones; and his cousin, Tonya Jones.

While we rejoice that he is with the Lord, his memories and spirit will live on through his parents, Freddie and Cynthia McKnight; his siblings: Tony (Neicy) Coleman, Myran (Kelly) McKnight, Marlon McKnight, Tawasha (Mitchell) Swanson, Richard (Tina) White,  Kathryn White, Shannon Carter-White, and his baby sister whom he loved dearly, Ilicia (Aaron) Jackson; aunts: Lula Malone, Marcella Preston, Arena Jones, Lisa (Lee) Anderson, Denise (Jack) McCarey, and Jennifer (Melvin) Wilson; his uncles: Fred (Marcella) Preston, John White, John (Pam) Coleman, Larry (Carolyn) Jones, Caesar Jones, Eddie Brandy, and Lawrence (Pat) Jones; his beautiful niece, Cyanna McKnight; his amazing nephew, Edward Hodges Jr; and special cousins: Crystal White, Julian Jones, Nichole Jones, Ceira Jones, Chailyn Malone, and Cedric Moodie. While they may not be listed, there are many more who will miss JD and cherish special memories of him forever.
