Helen Domnanovich

Helen Rose Domnanovich

A bright, shining star ascended into the heavens when Helen Rose Domnanovich, 86, passed away at 2:05 pm Saturday, December 17, 2022 in the Raclin House at Hospice Care. Her death was due to complications from Covid.

Helen was born on August 9, 1936 in South Bend to John and Gertrude (Tonk) Domnanovich. At the tender age of 7 she tragically lost her beloved Mother. She attended Our Lady of Hungary grade school and graduated from the old Washington High School. She was employed by Bendix, AM General, and Associates.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Irene (Domnanovich) Hintz in 2006,  her brother-in-law Robert Hintz in 2000, and nephew Robert “Herby” Hintz in March 2022. She is survived by her niece Susan Hintz and nephew Joseph Hintz. She also leaves behind many members of the Domnanovich, Hintz, Pinter, Tonk, and Cira families.

Affectionately called “Auntie” by all who knew her, she was always the life of the party, making an entrance with her loud voice and boisterous laugh. She bowled in several local leagues including PNA and enjoyed a good, cold beer and a lively polka. She loved to travel, spending many weeks in Fort Lauderdale each winter, trips to Hawaii, and pilgrimages to Europe. Her favorite pastime was spoiling her niece and nephews and showering them with unconditional love and affection. She had a very generous heart and found pleasure in making others happy with frequent visits, gifts, and laughter. She volunteered at St. Joseph’s Hospital as a Candystriper while in high school and in retirement she rocked the premature babies in the NICU at Memorial Hospital.

Helen was truly one of a kind, a compassionate, vivacious person who remained young at heart throughout her life. She made everyone happy and will be missed but remembered lovingly by those who knew her. Thank you, dearest Auntie, for your constant outpouring of kindness and love.

Helen was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church for the past 30 years. A Private burial has taken place in Sacred Heart Cemetery. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at a later date. Zahoran Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. To leave an online condolence, visit our website http://www.zahoran.com
