Denoris J. (Brown) Jackson

Denoris J. Brown Jackson was born on October 19, 1937, in South Bend, Ind. to the union of Jerihmia and Albert Brown Sr.  She earned her angel wings on Oct 23, 2023.

 She attended South Bend public schools and graduated from Washington High School in 1955.  Denoris was one of the first black women to attend St Mary's College. She started her career at Notre Dame Library and went on to work for the former Indiana Bell, (now AT&T) retiring after 40 years of service.  Her union to John Jackson II. was blessed with two children, Carolyn and John Jackson III.

Her many passions included shopping for beautiful clothes, supporting Notre Dame and St. Mary’s colleges and dining out.  Her favorite “things to do,” were eating at Cracker Barrel and talking to friends all night long. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jerihmia and Albert Brown Sr.; her brothers, Albert Brown Jr. and Walter Brown Litizenbauer ; her son, John Jackson III; sister-in-laws, Blanche (Clinton) Harden and Juanita (William) Gilkey; nieces, Lynn Harden Roper and Nikki Gilkey Byron.

Her memory will forever be cherished by her daughter Carolyn (Larry) Powell; grandchildren. Lawrence Powell Sr. and Ashley Powell; 10 great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
