DALE E. HOWE

SOUTH BEND - Dale E. Howe, 62, passed away at 6:20 a.m. on March 20, 2008 in his residence after a courageous battle against Pancreatic Cancer. Dale was born on December 18, 1945, in South Bend, to Ralph and Verna (Holdeman) Howe. He was preceded in death by his father.

On June 15, 1968, he married Diane (Matteson) in South Bend, she survives; along with his mother, Verna Howe of South Bend; two daughters, Kellie (Jon) Ireland of Granger, and Kris (Rick) Davila of South Bend; four grandchildren, Emily and Katie Ireland and Hailey and Ricky Davila; and one sister, Darlene (Gary) Graczyk of Granger; sister and brother-in-law, Janet (Bob) Bonek; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Dale was a graduate of Washington High School.

He began his career at Gates Chevrolet, South Bend, in the parts department. He worked for many car dealerships, becoming a Parts Specialist before retiring after 20 years with Don Medow Motors. Dale enjoyed reading, traveling, and camping. He was an avid NASCAR fan and his favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt, Jr. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren at school functions, church, and at sports activities. He was a member of the PNA, where he enjoyed bowling with friends. The passing of Dale has left a void with his family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 24, 2008, from 4 to 8 p.m. in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., South Bend. A funeral service will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Cremation will then take place.
