Robert (Bob) Michael Blasko: Bob Blasko "the Oldest Hippie in South Bend" age 74, passed away in his home on September 5, 2021. Bob was born May 16, 1947 in South Bend, Indiana to the late Stephen (Steve) Blasko and Clementine (Kiemnec) Blasko. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Dean Blasko. He is survived by his four children: Chelsea (J) Blasko Muse, Carla Blasko, Tiffany Blasko, and Michael (Becky) Blasko and five grandchildren: Daveyonta Logan, Adam Blasko, Lucas Smith, Bisbee Muse, and Ellie Rose Blasko. He is also survived by Vivian Miller (ex-wife) and Julie Jenks (long-time partner). Recently, Bob's daughter, Tiffany had been caring for him helping with meals, shuttling him to doctor's appointments, and providing other basic needs.

Bob grew up on the West Side of South Bend and graduated from Washington High School in 1966. Bob never served in Vietnam, as he was hit by a car and received a metal plate in his leg during that time. In 1974, he married Vivian Miller at Little Cross Parish Church and they had four children.

Bob had numerous jobs including teaching Photography at Saint Mary's, working for a Cannon Manufacturer (Barney's), Model Tech (Koontz), work as a wedding photographer, and a long stint at AM General where he was a proud UAW Union Member. He was elected to the A.M. General Union Council for four years. Bob was also a lifelong member of the Clay Democratic Club and enjoyed celebrating Dyngus Day. Bob was also elected to the Roseland Park Department Council and served for many years.

Bob was always an artist at heart. He enjoyed using many media including pen and ink, painting, sculpture (wood and metal), and photography. He also enjoyed attending gallery shows and viewing public art. Bob was an avid music fan. He loved blasting the neighborhood with the sounds of the Loop FM 98 from Chicago and attending concerts and music festivals. He also proudly shot his cannon every New Year's and 4th of July. Bob had an eclectic personality and an eccentric personal style. He was someone who did what he wanted and lived life on his own terms. He was known to be able to talk to anyone for hours (including strangers and wrong numbers.) Bob loved going to the beach. You could find him near the Cook Nuclear Plant nearly every weekend in the 80's. He had a favorite Liverwurst Shop on the route and would stop for pate. He was also a fan of the Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs, roller coasters, collecting toys, tequila, and parties. He will be missed.
