Vivian A. (Sopczynski) Vargo
Vivian A. Vargo, 71, of South Bend, Indiana passed away at 1:27 a.m. Sunday, July 2, 2023, in her home. Vivian was born on May 3, 1952 in South Bend, Indiana to Richard G. and Josephine V. (Olszewski) Sopczynski, who both preceded her in death. She retired on July 1, 2022 from Saint Mary’s College, where she was employed as an Administrative Secretary for 47 years.
On December 21, 1989, in South Bend, she married Eugene C. Vargo, who survives. She is also survived by her daughter, Jessica Williams of North Liberty, Indiana; her step-son, Chris (Lorie Taube) Vargo of Edwardsburg, Michigan; three grandchildren, Delaney, Myla and Brynnlea Willams; her sister, Cynthia “Cyndi” Andrzejewski of South Bend, Indiana; and three brothers, Larry (Diana) Sopczynski of Lake Placid, Florida, Dennis (Judy) Sopczynski of San Mateo, California and Ron (Diane) Sopczynski of South Bend, Indiana.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, July 8, 2023 in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, Indiana. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
Vivian enjoyed camping and making smores. She also enjoyed going to the wineries in Southwest Michigan, especially the Round Barn. She was a huge Notre Dame football fan. To send online condolences, please visit kaniewski.com
