SOUTH BEND - Shirley C. Gentry, 66, of Lake Placid, FL, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2013, at Good Shepherd Hospice in Highland County, Florida. Shirley was born in South Bend, Indiana, on January 23, 1947, to parents, Katherine Jarvis-Gall and Ralph Gall Jr.

Shirley graduated from Washington High School and worked in several vocations including dentistry, bookkeeping, and funeral sales and services.

Shirley had a special compassion for children, the elderly, the disabled and the lonely, and served and volunteered extensively in the Florida chapter of the Kiwanis. Shirley loved people, birds, fish, wildlife, and all things tropical. She is survived by her husband, Danny L. Gentry of Lake Placid, FL; a brother, Steve (Connie) Gall of Vandalia, MI; two sisters, Diane Feltz of Mishawaka, IN, and Theresa L. (Doug) Casad of Lakeville, IN; three nieces, Richael J. (Kevin) McNally of Pompano Beach, FL, Angie M. Gall of Ann Arbor, MI, and Tricia D. Feltz-Ryan of Mishawaka, IN; two nephews, Mike Gall of Vandalia, MI, and Brian Gall of South Bend, IN; and a great-nephew, Saxon Gall of Vandalia, MI.

Shirley was laid to final rest in section Y of Southlawn Cemetery in South Bend, Indiana. ...think of her as living in the hearts of those she touched ... for nothing loved is ever lost - and she was loved so much. Ellen Brenneman
