SOUTH BEND - Mr. Curtis Lee Gadie Sr., who resided on South Taylor Street, South Bend, Indiana, passed away at 5:22 a.m. on Thursday, October 18, 2012, at Hospice House of St. Joseph County, South Bend, IN. Curtis was born September 1, 1942, in South Bend, IN to the late Fred & Florida Mae (Washington) Gadie Sr.

He graduated from Washington High School.

He worked five years for Ryder Trucking & three years for Morgan Drive Away, and was a very successful entrepreneur. He was united in holy matrimony on December 1, 1971, in South Bend, Indiana, to Keri M. Davis, who preceded him in death on September 24, 2011.

He also was preceded in death by a brother, Glenn Gadie Sr.; his grandmother, Amy Burton; two aunts, Fannie Vonner & Ernestine Stewart Jackson; and a sister-in-law, Karla Doty.

Survivors left to cherish his memory include four daughters, Sonia Moore of Elkhart, IN, Marilyn Cutler (Patrick) Vann of South Bend, Kirsten Davis of Mishawaka, IN, & Jasmin Gadie of Korea; two sons, Curtis Lee (Yvonne) Gadie of Fort Stewart, Georgia, & Whitney (Katrina) Davis of South Bend; 21 grandchildren & host of great-grandchildren; seven sisters, Judith (Rex) Shank of Casa Grande, Arizona, Susan Gadie of South Bend, Avis Smith & Sharon Smith, both of Memphis, TN, Susan Smith of Washington, D.C., Brenda Gadie of Kalamazoo, MI, and Marie Gadie of Detroit, MI; six brothers, Fred Gadie of Alabama, Jerry Gadie of Chicago, IL, David (Laura) Smith, Doug Smith & Floyd Smith, all of South Bend, IN, and Benjamin (Juanita) Smith of Riverside, CA; along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Services for Mr. Curtis Lee Gadie, Sr. will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 26, 2012, at Alford's Mortuary, with viewing held from noon to 1:00 p.m. at the chapel.
