Age 70, of South Park, on Friday, February 7, 2014. Born 1943 in South Bend, IN to the late Ervin and Hildegarde Chrzan; beloved and devoted wife of the late Victor Szalajda; loving mother of Frank (Mara) Szalajda of Bellmore, NY and Jonathan Szalajda of Upper St. Clair, PA; dear sister of Marie (Raymond) Koenig of Florissant, MO, Nancy Larrick of Carrollton, IL and Chris Kreher of Fenton, MO; cherished Nana of Brandon Szalajda and Taylor Szalajda; sister-in-law of John (Judy) Szalajda, Bernie (Betty) Czarniecki and Florence Gasior.

Kathi graduated from St. Casimir Grade School, Washington High School and Thomas Commercial School, all of South Bend, IN.

She was a member of the Polish Falcons Nest 118 of Pittsburgh, PA and the Canonsburg Presbyterian Crafts Group. No public visitation.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 10 a.m. in St. Joan of Arc Church, 6414 Montour St., Pittsburgh, PA 15129. Inurnment private. Family suggests memorial contributions to the Parkinson's Foundation - Western PA, 3464 Babcock Blvd., Pittsburgh, PA 15237 in memory of Kathi's late husband, Victor Szalajda.
