SOUTH BEND - Mr. Gary Lamar Ward, who resided on South Wellington Street, South Bend, IN, passed away at the age of 37 on Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at 6:45 a.m., in his residence. Gary's life began on May 31, 1976, in South Bend, IN, when he was born to Rickey and Debra (Jacobs) Ward. He was reared in South Bend and graduated from Washington High School in 1994, continuing his education at Davenport College where he majored in Business and also attended Barber School.

He and Sarita Dozier were married in 2002. Gary's favorite activities included playing basketball, football, and playing with his children.

He was a member of New Horizon Outreach Ministries.

Loving family members who survive include his wife, Sarita Ward; three daughters, Chyanne Ward, Shamaya Ward and Shaniya Ward; his parents, Rickey and Debra Ward, all of South Bend; sisters, Terrell Ward (Calvin) Thomas, Fort Wayne, IN, and Danielle Michelle Garrett, South Bend, IN; brothers, Rickey (Heidi) Ward Jr., South Haven, MI; and a special brother, Derrick Scaife; maternal grandmother, Katherine Jacobs; and mother-in-law, Pamela Hamilton Dozier, all of South Bend, IN; along with other relatives and friends.

He was pre-deceased by a son, Gary Ward Jr.; maternal grandfather, Albert Willie Jacobs; paternal grandmother, Margaret Gary; paternal grandfathers, Roy Ward and Bob McKinney; and a cousin, Jeremey Jacobs.

Funeral services for Mr. Gary L. Ward will be held at 12:00 p.m. today, January 22, 2014, at New Horizon's Outreach Ministries, with viewing one hour prior to services.
