Reginald Glon

REGINALD "REGGIE" GLON

Reginald "Reggie" D. Glon Apr. 29, 1941 - June 28, 2014 SOUTH BEND - Reginald "Reggie" Daniel Glon, 73, of South Bend, passed away on June 26, 2014. Born on April 29, 1941 to the late Frank Patrick and Regina Frances (Kubiak) Glon, Reginald was one of three children. On June 30, 1978, he married the love of his life, Genevieve "Jenny" M. (Erp) Glon, who survives of South Bend. Along with is wife, he is survived by one brother, Frank P. (Mary Jane) Glon, Jr. of Cassopolis, MI and one sister, Gloria (George) Walters of Mishawaka, IN. Also surviving are many loving nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents he was predeceased by a sister and brother-in-law, Louise (Hank) Szklarek.

Reggie was a 1960 graduate of Washington High School, in South Bend, where he was a standout athlete in football, basketball and was a catcher on the baseball teams.

Even after high school, he enjoyed a wide range of activities including: hunting, fishing, and especially ice fishing. Reggie was an avid fan of Notre Dame sports, Chicago Cubs, the Green Bay Packers and going to the Blue Chip Casino. A self-proclaimed "kid at heart," he loved to play and tease with the little kids in his life. Reggie worked for 24 years at South Bend Range and he worked another 24 years for Building Services at the University of Notre Dame, as well. Always active, he was a member of the Chain-O-Lakes Conservation Club and was a social member at the PNA. He continued his love of all sports sometimes watching different games on two TVs at once. He always made certain the birds and squirrels were fed first thing every single morning.

The family would like to thank Hospice, "for all of the care they had given." Always determined, Reggie had stated when he found out he was ill that if he were to pass away, he would do so "his way" and he did. Hospice and the love of his family made this possible. He will be greatly missed, but not more so than by his loving wife, Jenny. REGGIE THERE IS NO BEER IN HEAVEN.

Cremation is being handled by McGann Hay, Morning Star Funerals & Cremations and American Cremation Society. A memorial service is to be held at a later date. The family asks that any memorial contributions be sent to either the Center for Hospice Care, 111 Sunnybrook Ct., South Bend, IN 46637 or to the Food Bank of Northern Indiana, P.O. Box 11365, South Bend, IN 46634. To share memories or to send condolences to the family, please visit www.McGannHay.com.
