MISHAWAKA - Albert B. VanOoteghem, Jr., 65, passed away at 12:34 p.m. on Friday, September 24, 2010 at Memorial Hospital, South Bend. Al was born on February 9, 1945 in South Bend to Albert B. and Ann (Cesavice) VanOoteghem, Sr. He has remained a lifelong area resident. Al is survived by his mother, Ann VanOoteghem of South Bend; four children, Beth (Chad) Casbon of Hebron, IN, Kirk (Tammy) VanOoteghem of Yorktown, IN, Sarah (Jeremiah) Wean of Indianapolis, IN and Mandy (Leonard) Moretti of South Bend; and eleven grandchildren, Gabrielle, Courtney, Lauren, Madison, Silas, Cole, Maya, Kyle, Logan, Ella, and Evan. Al is also survived by his fiance and sweetheart, Linda Markiewicz of South Bend.

Al has been in sales with Gordon Food Service for over 30 years.

He was an avid bowler and a member of the 300 club. He enjoyed watching sporting events and attending NASCAR races.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at the Palmer Funeral Home-Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend. Rev. David Porterfield, C.S.C. will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family from 2-8 p.m. on Monday, September 27th, at the Palmer Funeral Home-Hickey Chapel where the rosary will be recited at 3:00 p.m. Contributions in memory of Albert B. VanOoteghem may be donated to the American Heart Association, 6100 W. 96th Street, Suite 200, Indianapolis, IN 46278 or to the American Lung Association, 115 W.
