SOUTH BEND - Johnnie Mae Lee, 64, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, who resided on North Elmer, was called home early Saturday morning, Nov. 24, 2007. Johnnie Mae was born in DeKalb, Mississippi, on November 19, 1943, to the union of John Thomas and Ida Mae (Fox) McCoy, who preceded her in death.

Johnnie Mae graduated from Washington High School in 1963 and The California College for Health Sciences in 1994, with a degree in respiratory therapy. She was a faithful employee of Saint Joseph's Regional Medical Center for 36 years, retiring in 2001. Johnnie also worked for Apria Healthcare until her health prevented her from continuing. Johnnie was a hardworking respiratory therapist who loved her patients and their families.

She loved children and was so passionate about their well-being that she became a foster parent. Johnnie Mae was a diligent, hardworking member of Kingdom Christian Center, where she was affectionately referred to as 'The First Lady.' She was ordained as a minister in 1976. Johnnie was an awesome woman of God who loved the Lord with all her heart. She was loved by all and will by truly missed.

Loving family members who survive include her faithful husband of 45 years, John Wesley Lee; three sons, John Wesley Jr. (Kim), Wesley (Arnez) and Canneth Lee; two daughters, Tina (Brian) Williams and Mia Lee; 16 grandchildren, Ashley Anthon, Brittney, Jalana, Keishanda, Lamar, Lauren, Lexous, Lillian, Brian, Andrea, Jalen, Amaani, Jayce, Adrian and Tyler; two great-grandchildren, Zyonah and Kodi, all of South Bend; three brothers, Jimmy (Ann) McCoy of Cleveland, Ohio, John Albert (Denise) McCoy of Flint, MI, and Dee (Rosemary) McCoy of South Bend; two sisters, Shirley (Emmett) Roe and Leona McCoy, both of South Bend; a brother-in-law, Izell (Johnnie Pearl) Lee; two sisters-in-law, Mae-Ethel (Ben) Bradley and Mildred Allen, all of Statesboro, Georgia; special aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to express a special thanks to Momma's special friends, Ida Eldridge, Pastor Ann Offett, Juanita Sheffield, Bertha Robinson, Betty Williams and her co-workers at Apria Healthcare. A special thanks to Mary Wilson for her love, time and wonderful care.

Also preceding her in death was her daughter, Yvonne Tanette Lee.

Momma will be remembered for her love of children, her love for her family and most importantly, her undying love for Christ.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in memory of Johnnie Mae Lee be made to the Kingdom Christian Center Building Fund. Funeral services for Mrs. Johnnie Mae Lee will be held at noon on Saturday, Dec. 1, in Faith Apostolic Church, with burial following at Highland Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, Dec. 1, from 11:00 a.m. to noon in the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Alford's Mortuary, where bereavement messages may be sent to alfordsmortuary@comcast.net, c/o the Lee family.
