Wallace "Wally" Cole

August 24, 1949 ~ June 21, 2022 (age 72)

Wallace “Wally” Cole departed this life at the age 72, beloved father, grandfather, and brother living at 2219 Oakwood Park, South Bend, Indiana, passed away peacefully in his home Tuesday, June 21, 2022.

Wallace was born to the late Eddie Faye (Bunting) Cole-Love and the late Cecil Wallace Cole in South Bend, Indiana at Memorial Hospital on August 24, 1949. He graduated from South Bend Washington High School in 1967.

Wallace confessed his life to Christ at a young age under the leadership of Rev. Tate at St. Paul Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. Before his death, he was an active member of St. Paul Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in South Bend, Indiana serving as a Trustee, Usher, and driving the Church Bus. 

Wallace was drafted in the U.S. Army and served for 4 years; Rank E4, Dental Medical Tech. He returned to South Bend and was employed by the U.S. Postal Service and retired after 32 years.

Wallace volunteered with the Meals on Wheels Program and the South Bend Police Department during his retirement.

Wallace was preceded in death by his father, Cecil Wallace Cole, mother, Eddie Faye Love and Dad, Louis C. Love Sr. His sister, Yvonne F. Love and brother-in-law, Harold L. Houghton.

Wallace leaves to cherish his memories, His son, Jason Johnson-Cole of South Bend, Indiana; his granddaughter, Rhiannon Pitcock of Kalamazoo, Michigan; and grandson, Jacquoi Johnson-Cole of South Bend, Indiana; His sisters, Glenda (Tony) Houghton of South Bend, Indiana, LaRae Houghton of Westerville, Ohio and Felicia Love of Whitehall, Ohio; his brothers, Louis C. (Jamie) Love Jr. of Waukegan, Illinois, and Eddie Love of South Bend, Indiana; A special cousin, Ronnie Cole of South Bend, Indiana; 6 nieces; 6 nephews; 17 great-nieces; 17 great-nephews; and a host of extended family and friends.  

Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 27, 2022, at St. Paul Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 621 Lindsey St., South Bend, IN 46616. Reverend Gilbert C. Washington will officiate. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at the church prior to the service. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.palmerfuneralhomes.com.
