Robert Alva Riley

Robert Alva Riley, 52, of 1415 E. Colonial Dr., LaPorte, Indiana died June 15, 2003 in Elkhart General Hospital, Elkhart, Indiana. He was born July 9, 1950 in Chicago, Illinois a son of Herbert G. and Arlene (Leer) Riley.

Robert was a graduate of Washington High School, South Bend, Ind. where he participated in many activities among which was the marching band. He received his degree in accounting from Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, Mi.;

He had been employed as an accountant for the U.S. Government assigned to the Navy Department until his retirement in 2001 because of his health. He was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church of LaPorte and the Alumni Club of Western Michigan University.

Surviving are two sons, Jeffrey Riley of LaPorte, Timothy Riley of Virginia; his mother, Arlene Woods of LaPorte; one sister, Teresa Ely and husband Dennis of LaPorte, Ind.; one brother David Riley and wife Karen of Bowling Green, Ohio; Special friend Kathy Burtsfield of Elkhart. three nieces and one nephew. Preceded in death by father and grandparents;

Friends and relatives may call at the Rosenberg-Schipper Funeral Home Ltd. of Sturgis after 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday where the family will meet with friends from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Michigan Time. Religious services will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. Michigan Time with Rev Cal Kolzow of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating.
