Louis George Toth - Class Of 1946

 

Mishawaka - Louis George Toth, 91, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 in the presence of his loved ones.

Louis was born January 17, 1928 in South Bend, to the late Louis and Theresa (Papai) Toth. On June 11, 1949 Louis married Phyllis Ann (Lyvers) Toth in St. Matthews Church, she preceded him in death on December 3, 2008. They shared 59 loving years together and welcomed 7 children into their home.

Louis’ loving family include his children: Pamela (Alan) Brook, Patricia (Blake) Hobson, Barry (Cherie) Toth, Bryan Toth, Martin (Teresa) Toth, Kevin (Sharon) Toth, and Eric Toth; grandchildren: Jamie McDougald, Julian (Tami) McDougald, Heather Brook, Michael Brook, David (Brenda) Jasiewicz, Justin Jasiewicz, Brian Jasiewicz, Taylor Jasiewicz, Kathryn (Nathan) Chamberlin, Joshua Hobson, James (Ashley) Hobson, Jason Toth, Josh (Felise) Toth, Matthew (Courtney) Toth, Rachael Toth, Ryan Toth, Alex Toth, Kyle (Kate) Toth, Chelsea (Abraham) Maxfield, Nicholas Boyd, Adam Toth, and Ian Toth; and many great-grandchildren.

 

Lou attended Our Lady of Hungary School and graduated from Washington High School in 1946. He honorably served his country in the United States Army. After being discharged he began working for Studebaker assembly line. Lou was a manager for the BP Amoco Terminal in Granger, Indiana, and he retired in 1985 after 30 years of service. Louis was a longtime member of Queen of Peace Catholic Parish. He was an avid league bowler for over 45 years. Lou loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing at the family cottage on Big Fish Lake. He also enjoyed golfing. He could fix anything, a true MacGyver. Family was very important to him; he loved his children and grandchildren. He met with former coworkers from Amoco monthly for lunch at Bravo's, he was proud to save those long-term friendships.

 

Visitation for Louis will be held 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, May 2, 2019 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. with a Prayer at 7:30 PM. A second visitation will take place 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM on Friday, May 3, 2019 in the Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 4508 Vistula Rd., Mishawaka, Indiana. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:30 PM with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery.

In honor of Louis’ loving wife Phyllis, Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Alzheimer's Association, 922 E. Colfax Avenue, South Bend, Indiana 46617.
