SOUTH BEND, IN - Michael Sivak passed away unexpectedly in Kauai, Hawaii shortly after his 70th birthday. Mike was the only child of Michael and Josephine Sivak but grew up with many cousins and relatives in South Bend, Indiana. He married his high school sweetheart, Marguerite Lubelski, just months after graduating from Washington High School in 1966. Mike received an Associate Degree in Accounting from the South Bend College of Commerce and completed a four-year apprenticeship with Carpenter's Local #413.

Mike was a skilled craftsman and carpenter his entire life. After Hurricane Iniki devastated the island of Kauai, Mike and Margie relocated to Hawaii in 1993 to help rebuild the community by repairing homes, schools, churches, and businesses. In later years, he built the Kapaa Boys & Girls Club and numerous new residential homes and commercial buildings under his own construction company.

Mike is survived by his wife of 51 years, Margie; his children, Kristi Foster, Dawn Frese, and Michael J. Sivak III; and his granddaughter, Danielle Sivak. A celebration of life was held for Mike on the beach in Kauai on November 8, 2018. He will be remembered for his dedication to his wife, his sharp wit, and his Aloha spirit.
