Albert E Saboski - Class Of 1963 VIEW PROFILE

Albert E Saboski

Albert E. Saboski Jr., 75, of Columbia City, passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2020 surrounded by family at his home on Loon Lake. Born October 16, 1945 in South Bend, Indiana he was the son of  Albert Sr. and Anna (Minnes) Saboski.

While growing up in the South Bend area, Al loved to play baseball. Summer months were filled with playing on the Babe Ruth League. He graduated from Washington High School with the Class of 1963 and served in the U.S. Army Reserve. Al started his work career at American Home Foods. It was there where he worked with Robin Hamilton. The two would be married on June 27, 1982 at their home in Mill Creek. He eventually took a job working with Bendix before an opportunity came his way with General Motors. GM was building a new plant in Fort Wayne and Al attended Ivy Tech College to advance his career opportunity with GM in Power House Controls. He and his family moved to Whitley County for his new job and in 2000, they moved to their present home on Loon Lake. Al went on to retire from GM in 2007.

Al was a faithful member of West Point Trinity United Methodist Church where he was active and had served as a Treasurer and even an opportunity to preach a few messages over the years. Aside from his faith, family meant the most to Al. He coached his sons as they played baseball and even helped one son coach a team together. The family spent summer months also traveling as the children were younger and after moving to the lake, much time was spent having lake fun. Al loved having family and friends over and it was easy to spot him manning the grill or being out fishing with his grandchildren. Al also had a love for animals, including his 4 pugs, his horse and his chickens. He was a social and a people person. There were not too many strangers to Al and it was not uncommon for a quick trip to the store to take longer than expected because he enjoyed talking with others.

Survivors include by his loving wife of 37 years, Robin Saboski; sons, Chris Saboski, Andy (Jessica) Saboski, John (Ashley) Saboski and Stephen Saboski; brother, Jerry (Cindy) Saboski; sister-in-law, Nanette Saboski; and 6 loving grandchildren, Anna, Matt, Evan, Addison, Caden and Emma. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jim Saboski.
