SOUTH BEND - Stanley E. Jozwiak, 98, lifelong resident of South Bend, passed away peacefully at 10:10pm Wednesday, October 18, 2017 in Tanglewood Trace in Mishawaka. He was born on August 9, 1919 in South Bend to the late Wladyslaw S. and Helen (Nitka) Jozwiak.

On May 22, 1943 at Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church in South Bend, Stan married the former Theresa “Terry” A. Toth, who preceded him in death on June 17, 2017 after 74 years of marriage. He was also preceded by his sister, Genevieve Kiemnec.

Stan is survived by his daughter, Terri (Rick) Langel of Granger; sons, Dr. Leonard (Elaine) Jozwiak of Valparaiso, Thomas M. (Pam) Jozwiak of Mishawaka and Bernard (Lois) Jozwiak of Fort Wayne; seven grandchildren, Dr. Steven (Dr. Jennifer) Jozwiak, Stephanie (Mike) Paduch, Matthew (Julie) Jozwiak, Christopher Jozwiak, Catherine Langel, Kris (John) Fishburn and Trisha Peare; and six great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Michael and Anna Jozwiak, Joseph Paduch, and Braelynn and Brock Fishburn.

Stan was a 1938 graduate of Washington High School. He was a salesman for the Ward Baking Company, “Tip-Top,” and also worked for Carl's Distributing. Stan was a member of the Teamsters Union Retirees, Christ the King Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, where he was a 3rd degree knight.

Stan had a lifetime love of music and enjoyed playing his concertina and accordion whether for an audience or by himself. He volunteered for many years at St. Joseph Hospital and also ushered for the University of Notre Dame at many events including football, basketball, and volleyball games.

The family would like to acknowledge and thank Center for Hospice Care for their compassion and kindness as well as Tom and Pam Jozwiak's special devotion to and care of Stanley during his last months.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30am Saturday, October 28, 2017 in Christ the King Catholic Church, 52473 S.R. 933, South Bend. Graveside services and entombment will follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Friends may visit with the family from 10:30-11:30am on Saturday, October 28th in the church prior to Mass. Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
