SOUTH BEND - Joseph A. Kozakiewicz, Jr., 80, of South Bend, passed away on Sunday August 28, 2016, at Sanctuary at Holy Cross. He was born on November 28, 1935, in South Bend, to the late Joseph A. Sr. and Mary (Tomaszewski) Kozakiewicz. On February 1, 1958 he married Jacqueline Tobolski, who survives. Also surviving Joe are his three sons, Joseph M. of South Bend, Jeffrey A. of Cincinnati, OH and James A. (Christine) of Noblesville, IN; seven grandchildren, Joseph M. Jr., Kelly (Tyler) Rayl, Courtney, Desitny, Michael, Steven and Nikola Kozakiewicz; and one great-grandson, Axle Rayl. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Christine Kaminski, Dolores Kozakiewicz and Shirley Ann Karascon; and by a brother, David Kozakiewicz. He was 1955 graduate of Washington High School, where he played football where he was inducted into the Washington High School Football Hall of Fame. He went on to serve his country as a United States Marine. Joe worked for South Bend Stamping for 20 years and then worked at Meijer. He loved to fish, hunt and golf and was the President of the Elbel Men's Golf Club for 10 years. He was very proud of his family. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:30am on Thursday September 1, 2016 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, where friends may visit from 10am until 11:30am. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery with military honors.
